“The Synagogue Where Everyone Is Welcome”
“Welcome” is not only a tagline for Beit Chaverim, it defines who we are as a community. Beit Chaverim's intimate setting and friendly environment allows a first-time visitor to feel like an old friend.
Less than an hour's scenic drive from Manhattan, Westport offers beautiful private beaches, great shopping and fine dining. In addition, during the summer, the renowned Westport Country Playhouse and the Levitt Pavilion offer nightly entertainment. Westport's proximity to New York makes it a perfect location for daily commuting or a summer home.
Beit Chaverim is an Open Orthodox synagogue which celebrates its diverse membership. Services, led by Rabbi Yossi Pollak, are inviting and encourage congregational participation by both men and women.. In the summer, the synagogue often becomes a “shul without walls”, hosting visiting scholars at members' homes, a BBQ with a view of fireworks on the Long Island Sound, musical events, and cooking demonstrations with master chefs, such as Chef Mike Gershkovich from Mike's Bistro. You can go fishing, ride a bike, or taste wine…and share these experiences with Beit Chaverim members.
Fairway Market, kosher restaurants & bakeries, and a large selection of kosher foods available in the local markets can satisfy all your kosher needs within a short drive from your home. In addition, there is a local Jewish day camp, nearby mikvahs, and a large eruv. Rabbi Pollak also gives weekly classes, some of which are available on YouTube!
Homes are available in the greater Westport area for both rental and purchase within close proximity to the synagogue. A local real estate agent is a member of our community and will be happy to help you find the right home for your needs.

Kosh – Kosher American Bistro
A premiere kosher American bistro settles in the heart of Stamford, Conn. as a new dining attraction for restaurant lovers everywhere. Kosh is composed of three menus that feature Montreal-style smoked meats, Romanian pastrami and New York-style corned beef. These delectable meats are served throughout the day as Kosh opens its high-end kosher deli, and as the sun sets, Kosh transforms into a trendy restaurant with an incredible Glatt kosher menu.
The newly constructed restaurant features some of the areas finest steaks and ribs along with Southern classics like fried chicken and American favorites like wings and sliders.
To ensure the highest standards of kosher cooking, Kosh is under the supervision of the Orthodox Union and has gone through multiple steps to earn its certification. Guests can rest assured knowing that the authenticity of kosher living is upheld while they enjoy the fabulous food that Kosh has to offer.
Beyond keeping it kosher, Kosh is also aware of other dietary needs. The menu is 100 percent lactose-free and nut-aware and provides a number of gluten-free options. Although Kosh is primarily a meat restaurant, it also serves a variety of pastas, salads, and fresh seafood.
“The basic principle of the Kosh experience,” as said by managing partner Glenn Karow, “is for its guests to be so aroused by carefully created entrees that they won’t realize how healthy it is.”
Aside from its outstanding menu, Kosh offers several dining areas that provide a comfortable atmosphere for any occasion. With a full bar and various flat screen TVs, Kosh has a place for friends to gather and watch the game. The dining room provides for a more intimate experience for guests and the 35-seat outdoor patio is a great spot for colleagues to stop in and enjoy open- air dining.
Having already wowed guests with its deli, unique kosher entrees and chic atmosphere, the Kosh experience is giving the community a fresh sense of casual dining that will attract a wider audience to the pleasures of eating well and keeping kosher.
