Emanuel Yegutkin, 33, the former principal of Elite High School in Bensonhurst, was sentenced to 55 years in prison Thursday for abusing three boys over 10 years. The boys were not his students.
Yegutkin was convicted in early December of all 75 counts of charges. All three victims testified at the trial, which began on Oct. 18th. The felony charges were related a to “a course of sexual conduct against children,” said Jerry Shmetterer, a spokesman for the Brooklyn DA, Charles J. Hynes.
Yegutkin was arrested in January 2009. According to prosecutors, hewas a regular guest in the home of his victims’ after befriending their father. The abuse took place from 1996 to 2005, when the two boys were ages seven to 15-years-old, and in 2008, and he exposed the third boy to pornography.
In other news, Nechemya Weberman, the man who sexually abused a Satmar chasidic teenager who was brought to him for counseling, had his sentence reduced from 103 years to 50 years by the state Department of Corrections, the New York Times reported Friday. A Corrections spokeswoman told the paper that sentencing guidelines mandate a maximum sentence of 50 years for the offenses he committed. Since Weberman is 54, the change has little practical impact. Weberman could only be released for good behavior if he lives to 97, in 2055, the Times said.
Weberman was convicted on 59 counts of abuse in December.
