On Friday, Feb. 22, Julie Wiener, the co-author of The Jewish Week’s E-rate series, answered questions from host Richard Gandon and a variety of listeners who called in.
She discussed how the article came about, how E-rate works and why the public deserves to know how this federal money, collected through a tax on long-distance phone service, is being allocated. One clarification: On the show she said that most USAC audits are paper-only and do not include a site visit. However, the audits actually do include site visits.
