An 18th-century hagaddah, discovered in a box that had contained kosher food, has sold at auction for the equivalent in pounds of about $300,000 to an Austrian Jewish donor, reported The Jewish Chronicle.
The 20-page Hebrew manuscript, dating from 1726, was found in a Jewish home in north Manchester, the Chronicle said.
A Jewish family from Belgium fleeing the Nazis in 1940 brought the manuscript to the UK, according to the Chronicle.
