The Washington Post and other news organizations are reporting that a new video attributed to the Islamic State terrorist organization purports to show the beheading of U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff.
In the video, a militant is holding Sotloff at knife-point against a desert backdrop that looks similar to the one in the video released last month depicting the decapitation of American journalist James Foley, according to the Post.
SITE Intelligence Group, an organization that tracks the online postings of Islamist militant groups, obtained the video, the Post said.
Sotloff had written for Time magazine, Foreign Policy and other publications.
