If you check your archival sources you will see that The Jewish Week has quoted Daniel Pipes hundreds of times over the past 30 years. Evidently the Jewish Week finds Pipes to be a dependable and quotable resource.
In your Editorial (“Truth And No Consequences,” Dec. 16) you quoted Pipes as a reputed historian who concurred with Newt Gingrich’s historical data on the Palestinians, yet, you gratuitously preempt his academic qualifications and credentials with your assessment of his political outlook. If you use him as a constant resource because you have known for the last three decades that his analysis is consistent and on the mark, why must you detract from his scholarly expertise by first reciting his political proclivities?
You do not do this to others.
