Either you are hinting at your real preference in the presidential race (“Romney’s Bold Approach,” Editorial, Aug. 3) or you are going too far in an attempt to be evenhanded and not alienate any readers or advertisers. You may not like it, but President Barack Obama’s position has been pretty clear about what is needed to ease Mideast tensions.
Former Gov. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has done nothing but mouth the policies of his right-wing supporters in a craven attempt to reward their financial support and, he assumes, gain the electoral support of like-minded voters. That is his right, but it is hardly a “bold approach.”
Indeed, it certainly would be instructive, as you suggest, to hear more — and better informed — details from him about how he would ease, rather than inflame, Mideast tensions, than the (mis)statements he made on his recent trip to Israel.
