In the article “Youth Vote Here Seen Up For Grabs” (Oct. 12), it is stated “[President Barack] Obama in May 2011 called upon Israelis to return to the pre-1967 borders … which would require Israel giving up all or part of the West Bank, east Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights.”
This is of course not true. What he said was, “We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.”
I hope this lapse was a mere mistake in misstating facts, and not a result of the rightward leaning I have detected for some time.
