I have one reservation about Gary Rosenblatt’s excellent column (“Preparing For College? Consider The Israel Factor,” April 17). It regards inclusion of the Ari Shavit book, “My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel” [as recommended for reading].
It is truly readable and there are chapters that tell the story of Israel in a responsible and most interesting way. But the book distorts the history of Israel and tends to support the mistaken view that Israel is a “colonial enterprise” instead of a process of historical return and re-creation.
