All the columns in The Jewish Week that want Israel to change its behavior in its relationship with the Palestinians are very shortsighted.
The fact is that the Palestinian population is protected by the IDF from what is going on in Syria and Iraq. Hardly mentioned is the fact that the Palestinian population has access to world-class medical facilities, such as Hadassah and Shaarei Tzedek hospitals. You fail to mention that the Palestinian Authority receives funds Israel collects for the use of Israeli ports to receive and export goods. How this money is used to better the life of ordinary Palestinians is something that the Palestinian population should be asking its leadership.
