I wonder, if Israel were overwhelmingly Arab in population, would the Jewish minority be allowed the right to celebrate its Nakba, as the Arab students do at Tel Aviv University? (“Nakba Ceremonies Highlight Continued Rift,” May 20.)
I would have to guess that such a situation would not be tolerated.
Your article about Nakba does point out that Arab members of the Knesset do exist, which shows the great democracy that Israel has maintained from its beginnings. What you fail to mention is that Jews from Arab countries also became refugees at around the same time. For some reason, The Jewish Week hardly writes about the plight of Jewish refugees from Arab countries.
