In Robert Sugarman’s Opinion piece, “The Pressing Need For A Two-State Strategy” (Aug. 5), he writes, “Unlike the plan for the withdrawal from Gaza, none of the plans contemplates withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces from the West Bank. Thus, those who use the Gaza withdrawal to warn against any withdrawal from the West Bank miss the mark.”
However, he ignores completely the threat of missiles from the West Bank, especially if Hamas is successful in taking over the new Palestinian state. Where in the Palestinian state would the Israel Defense Forces be stationed to allow them to prevent missile attacks?
