Linda Sarsour is a pro-Palestinian, anti-Zionist activist selected to deliver the commencement address at CUNY’s School of Public Health (“Sharp Debate Over CUNY Graduation Speaker,” April 28).
Freedom of speech grants her the right to speak. Her commencement address should inspire the new graduates to seek fulfilling careers that will improve the health of the public. She should be advised that a commencement is not an appropriate platform on which to inject her personal view regarding Israel and Palestine. If she rejects this advice, a second speaker should be invited to deliver an opposing point of view.
