Regarding “Ethiopians Young And Old, Sitting Here In Limbo” (Aug. 4): These people are not Jews. Every time the Israeli government wraps up aliyah in Ethiopia, thousands of people mysteriously appear [in Gondar or Addis Ababa].
I hear new numbers every time, and every time it’s more ludicrous. Beta Israel aliyah finished in 2000, and Operation Wings of Doves brought the last remaining Jewish communities from beyond the river.
This is not Israel’s problem anymore.
