I applaud the articles by Rutgers students Benjamin Cohen and Jacob Miller (The View From Campus, Feb. 16), informing the wider Jewish community of hate speech on campus. However, in a certain sense, they are preaching to the converted. To emphasize Jewish claims to Jerusalem, I wrote to The Daily Targum, a Rutgers student newspaper, and they published my article.
I think it is critical to publish articles on campus to educate liberal students, including many Jews who are uninformed or misinformed about the facts, and, in some cases, are anti-Israel. Rutgers may have the largest Jewish student body of any university in the U.S.
I encourage university students to publish in campus publications, to promote hasbara [public relations] about Israel and combat anti-Jewish and anti-Israel hate speech.
