JERUSALEM (JTA) — A municipal planning committee approved building permits for 176 housing units in a Jewish neighborhood of predominantly Arab eastern Jerusalem.
The expansion announced Wednesday will create the largest Jewish settlement enclave in a Palestinian neighborhood in the city, according to reports. There are currently 91 housing units in the Nof Zion neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber.
Construction will not begin anytime soon because of a dispute among the landowners, Haaretz reported.
