JERUSALEM (JTA) — A 60-year-old woman gave birth to her first child at a central Israel hospital.

The woman was rushed to the Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot for an emergency cesarean delivery on Tuesday morning, according to Israeli media reports.

The 4.85-pound baby was delivered by an eight-person medical team after the woman began suffering from preeclampsia, a condition in late pregnancy that can cause sudden high blood pressure along with other medical problems that could be harmful to the mother and the baby.

The woman, who did not wish to be named by the media, had undergone years of fertility treatments.

“The greatest happiness in my life was when the team showed me my daughter. I have waited so many years for her,” she told reporters.
