JERUSALEM (JTA) — At least three Palestinian teenage assailants were killed as they attempted to attack Israeli soldiers.
A Palestinian teen, 17, ran toward a checkpoint outside of Jerusalem brandishing a knife on Sunday.
A police officer monitoring a security camera covering the area warned police at the checkpoint near the Har Homa neighborhood, who shot the attacker. The teen died of his wounds, the Palestinian Maan news agency reported. He was identified by Maan as Naim Ahmad Yousif Safi from the town of al-Ubediya, located east of Bethlehem.
Earlier on Sunday, two Palestinian teens were shot and killed by Israeli soldiers after one of them opened fire on the troops patrolling in the northern West Bank.
The soldiers had been in the area of the Hinanit Jewish settlement near the Palestinian city of Jenin, responding to reports of rock throwing, according to the IDF.
The assailants were identified by Maan as two 15-year-old Palestinian teens from the village of al-Araqa west of Jenin.
Meanwhile, on Sunday evening, a Palestinian woman was shot and critically wounded after taking out a knife at a checkpoint at the Tomb of the Patriarchs and attempting to stab a Border Police officer, according to the police.
