JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Palestinians were killed in separate attempts to run over Israeli soldiers in a West Bank refugee camp.
Both Palestinian drivers were shot and killed during the attempted attacks in the Qalandiya refugee camp on Wednesday, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
Three Israeli soldiers were wounded in one of the incidents. The soldiers, who were in the camp to confiscate illegal weapons and arrest Palestinian suspects, according to the IDF, are believed to have been injured by friendly fire while attempting to stop one of the drivers.
Palestinian residents of Qalandiya rioted against the soldiers in the wake of the incidents, according to reports. Four Palestinian protesters reportedly were injured by IDF gunfire, the Palestinian Maan news agency reported.
