(JTA) — Rocket sirens and at least three explosions were heard in southern Israel near the Gaza Strip.
On Tuesday, one rocket landed near Ashdod, one near Yavneh and one near Kfar Silver, the Times of Israel reported. The Israeli Defense Forces is investigating the incident.
There have only been a handful of rocket explosions in Israel since last summer’s war in Gaza, including one last month on Israel’s Independence Day.
Analysts predict that Hamas or a smaller terrorist group may have launched the rockets as part of a weapons test.
