The Jewish Week’s annual 36 Under 36 honors young leaders, entrepreneurs and change-makers who are making a difference in the life of Jewish New York. For the full list of this year’s “36ers,” click here.

What do you do?

I’m a union lawyer advocating for working class New Yorkers while also serving as a community leader and organizer in my home borough of Queens.

How does your Jewish identity influence your work?

It’s at the center of everything I do, having been inculcated as a student at Solomon Schechter Day School. It has led me to speak out against rising antisemitism when it’s not always popular or comfortable.

Do you have a favorite inspiring quote?

“First comes courage.” (Joseph Felder, my grandfather)

What is your favorite book about New York?

“Working Class New York,” by Joshua Freeman
