JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli fighter jets struck several Hamas targets in the northern Gaza Strip after homes in the southern Israeli town of Sderot were struck with machine gun fire from Gaza.
Four of the targets in the overnight Wednesday to Thursday attack were buildings and terror infrastructure and three more were a part of a weapons production facility, according to the IDF.
An IDF tank earlier on Wednesday night also targeted two Hamas military posts in southern Gaza, in response to gunfire from Gaza on Israeli troops, according to the IDF.
Several Sderot homes were hit with gunfire on Wednesday, which did not cause any injuries.
“The Hamas terrorist organization is solely responsible for what is happening in and out of the Gaza Strip, and it will bear the consequences for the terrorist acts carried out from Gaza against the citizens and sovereignty of Israel,” the IDF said in a statement. “The IDF is determined to continue its missions to ensure security and a sense of security for the residents of Israel.”
