JERUSALEM (JTA) — Jewish extremists are believed to be behind an attack on a West Bank home while the Palestinian family, including a 9-month-old boy, was asleep.
No one was hurt in the attack by two smoke grenades early Tuesday morning in the Palestinian village of Beitillu, near Ramallah, according to reports. The baby and his parents were sleeping at the time of the attack.
The words “revenge” and “greetings from the prisoners of Zion” were drawn on the side of the home, apparently a reference to the July 31 attack on a home in the Palestinian village of Duma that killed an 18-month-old boy and his parents, and severely injured a 4-year-old. Several alleged Jewish extremists remain in Israeli prisons suspected of being involved in the Duma firebombing.
Husain al Najjar, the father of the family whose house was hit Tuesday, told Army Radio that his home also was attacked a year ago by people he identified as “settlers.”
Israeli authorities have opened an investigation into the attack.
