(JTA) — One Palestinian was killed and another wounded in two incidents Israeli police said were failed terrorist attacks on soldiers.

The fatal incident occurred Friday afternoon near the West Bank settlement of Ofra. Soldiers shot dead a Palestinian man they said had tried to run them over with his car, Israel’s Channel 2 reported. The man drove his car into a barrier designed to protect soldiers guarding the settlement, who then opened fire at the driver.

The attack near Ofra came amid rioting in the nearby village of Silwad and two hours after another alleged ramming attack north of Jerusalem by a 30-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank village of Turmusiyah. According to police’s account of that incident, the suspect attempted to run over soldiers at the Qalandia checkpoint.

When he rammed his car into a security barrier, the soldiers fired on his car, wounding him in his leg, before arresting him. He sustained moderate injuries.

On Wednesday, Israeli infantry troops killed two Palestinians near Qalandia whom the soldiers said had tried to run them over.

At least 33 Palestinians were shot by Israeli forces on Friday in clashes across the West Bank, Ma’an news reported. Of those, 25 were injured in the village of Beit Furik east of Nablus.

A 15-year-old resident of the village, Abdullah Hussein Nasasra, was killed Thursday after the Israeli army said he attempted to stab a soldier at the Huwwara military checkpoint.

Separately, Israeli authorities on Friday said they would return the body of 16-year-old Hadeel Wajih Awwad, who was killed while trying to stab people last month with her 14-year-old cousin in Jerusalem.

In November, the Shin Bet, Israel’s security service, recorded 326 terrorist attacks that resulted in the death of 10 victims and several Palestinian perpetrators. The previous month, a total of 620 terrorist attacks on Israelis ended with the death of 11 victims. Dozens of Palestinians also were killed in clashes with security services or while perpetrating attacks, Israel said.
