JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Israeli men, including a soldier, were shot and wounded by a member of the Palestinian Authority security force.
A civilian was seriously injured and the soldier was lightly wounded in the Thursday morning attack at the Hizme checkpoint north of Jerusalem.
The shooter was shot and killed at the scene.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the attacker drove to the checkpoint, exited his vehicle and began shooting at Israeli soldiers on duty there.
The Palestinian Maan news agency identified the shooter as Mazin Hasan Ureiba from Abu Dis, an officer in the Palestinian Authority general intelligence service and a father of four.
Later Thursday, an Israeli police officer was stabbed and seriously injured in a stabbing attack near the Damascus Gate, an entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem. The stabber reportedly was shot and killed at the scene.
