JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Palestinian teenage girls injured two men in a stabbing attack with a scissors at the central Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem.
One of the men injured in the Monday morning attack is a 70-year-old Palestinian man from Bethlehem. The second, a guard, 27, was hurt while trying to help the older man, according to reports.
The assailants, aged 14 and 16, were shot during the Monday morning attack after ignoring police orders to drop their weapons, according to police. One of the attackers died at the scene, and the second was taken to a Jerusalem hospital with serious injuries.
It was the first stabbing attack in Jerusalem in nearly two weeks. The attack came after three stabbing attacks in the West Bank the day before that left a 21-year-old Israeli woman dead.
