Jewish food is subject of Rocky Mountain festival

Top Jewish restaurateurs, chefs, farmers, entrepreneurs, bloggers and cookbook authors are participating in the three-day confab.

(JTA) — A conference to create a global Jewish food movement has opened in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

The Harvest, which began Wednesday, is a three-day festival of learning, cooking and serving Jewish cuisine.

The event at The Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort was organized in partnership with Connection Points, an initiative for young Jewish people by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, and with the Jewish environmental organization Hazon.

Top Jewish restaurateurs, chefs, farmers, entrepreneurs, bloggers and cookbook authors are participating in the program.

“So many of the important innovators and industry disruptors in the food world are Jewish. We want to tap into — and explore — that energy source at The Harvest gathering,” said Sarah Kornhauser, one of the conference’s directors. “The purpose of The Harvest is to unite this group, giving them room to examine and expand their connection to food, Judaism, and each other.”
