Over 1,200 attend N.Y. event promoting aliyah

(JTA) — More than 1,200 people attended an event in New York City to promote moving to Israel.

The Aliyah Mega Event held Sunday was hosted by Nefesh B’Nefesh, The Jewish Agency for Israel, Israel’s Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael and JNF-USA.

The event included workshops and seminars on planning aliyah, assistance in speeding up medical licensing for potential immigrants, and information on programs to help the transition to life in Israel.

Students, professionals and retirees attended the event, according to Nefesh B’Nefesh.

Assistance in speeding up licensing procedures was offered in medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, nutrition and pharmacology.
