JERUSALEM (JTA) — A wanted Palestinian man was killed in a shootout with Israel Border Police at his West Bank home.

Israeli troops surrounded the home near Nablus of Fatah member Zakaria al-Akra, 24, early Monday morning, and began spraying the walls with gunfire and ramming it with a bulldozer to force him out, according to Ynet, citing unnamed Palestinian sources.

Al-Akra fired on the soldiers, injuring two, before he was shot dead. Security forces found weapons inside the house, Ynet reported.

Israel accused Al-Akra of shooting and injuring an Israeli soldier a few weeks ago, according to the Palestinian Maan news service.

Less than a day earlier in the West Bank, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy was killed in a shooting by Israeli soldiers during a riot near Hebron. Palestinian protesters threw rocks at soldiers who fired back at them, wounding the boy. He died later in the hospital.

The Israeli army has opened an investigation into the boy’s death.
