WASHINGTON (JTA) — The air forces of the United States, Greece, Poland and Italy will participate in an Israeli Air Force combat exercise.
On Monday, the United States ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, flagged a Nov. 4 story in the Israeli online defense magazine Defense Update reporting that the “Blue Flag” exercise will take place sometime in November at the Ovda air base in southern Israel and will involve more than 100 aircraft.
The report had been anonymously sourced, but Shapiro linked to it on his official Twitter feed, saying “More on this in the days to come …”
Defense Update reported that the exercise is in lieu of past joint Israeli-U.S.-Turkish exercises that have stopped because of the deterioration in Turkish-Israeli relations.
