Retired British chief rabbi Jonathan Sacks to teach at NYU, Y.U.

The newly retired British chief rabbi Jonathan Sacks will serve as a professor at New York University and Yeshiva University.

(JTA) — The newly retired British chief rabbi Jonathan Sacks will serve as a professor at New York University and Yeshiva University.

Sacks will spend three months a year teaching in New York, the London-based Jewish Chronicle reported.

He will serve as the Kressel and Efrat Family University Professor of Jewish Thought at Yeshiva University. At NYU, Sacks will serve as the Ingeborg and Ira Rennert Global Distinguished Professor of Judaic Thought.

Sacks retired last month after 22 years as the chief rabbi. He was succeeded by Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis.

Sacks also has established the Covenant & Conversation Trust to support his educational work in Britain and overseas, according to the Jewish Chronicle.
