If anyone is in a position to understand the impact of events in both Egypt and Israel, it is Ambassador Daniel Kurtzer [former U.S. ambassador to Egypt and Israel] (“As Egypt Roils, Time For Israel To Pursue Peace Talks,” Opinion, July 12).
Opponents of the two-state solution and those who advocate a go-slow approach to it are always quick to point to every event and circumstance as a reason not to act. Kurtzer rightly points out that, to the contrary, the current situation may actually be to Israel’s advantage in pursuing peace talks aimed at a negotiated resolution resulting in a secure Israel at peace with its neighbors.
