In a move that makes us wonder what the heck Paula Deen’s PR people are thinking, the celebrity chef released this heartfelt-ish, oddly edited apology video in which she says sorry for making racist remarks.
“Inappropriate, hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable,” Deen says to the camera. “I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I beg you, my children, my team, my fans, my partners, I beg for your forgiveness. Please forgive me for the mistakes that I’ve made.”
The video came out shortly after Deen made news for bailing on a “Today” interview with Matt Lauer. Looks like her PR team is back on track, though—Deen has committed to sit down with Lauer on Wednesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Will she redeem herself? Based on everything she’s come out with so far our vote is no. But we’re definitely in for a few more entertaining soundbites.
