It may have been a day late, but Paul Rudd delivered a great April Fool’s joke.
The victim: Conan O’Brien.
The prank: Instead of showing a teaser of “Anchorman 2” on last night’s show, Rudd showed a clip from the 1988 E.T. ripoff film “Mac and Me.”
Why is that funny? Well, first of all Paul Rudd is hilarious. Secondly, a clip, any clip, from “Anchorman 2,” which is being filmed right now, is like the holy grail – no one gets any access to it. The only thing we know about it is that Rudd is going to keep his epic moustache. And third, the “Mac and Me” clip is a running gag between Rudd and Conan, sort of like the Jimmy Kimmel-Matt Damon “feud”.
Watch the clip from last night show, and if you’re wondering, you should relax, in “Mac and Me,” the little wheelchaired kid doesn’t really roll off a cliff, it’s just a dummy.
