Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the US, stopped by Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report” to talk about Chuck Hagel and President Obama’s upcoming trip to Israel.

Stephen Colbert presented the topic of Israel by reminding his audience he was “certainly a better friend than Barack Obama, who has repeatedly snubbed our ally ‘Yisrael’ by refusing to visit the country,” in 2008.

Colbert made fun of Oren’s boss, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was a staunch supporter for presidential contender Mitt Romney in last year’s race.

“Now, Obama’s coming over, whether you like it or not, and I know you guys don’t like it,” he said, “Netanyahu wanted the other guy, that’s clear.”

Colbert also brought up the issue of Iran, randomly blurting out, “what about Iran?” When do you guys start bombing?” before turning to the camera and yelling, “hold on, one second – just turn off the cameras, this is national security.”

The interview ended with Colbert asking Oren to pass a message along to Bibi, saying, “the Colbert Nation is behind Israel on this one, and if you do bomb Iran, we are right behind you, with just as many nuclear weapons as you admit to having.”
