TULIP, Trade Unions Linking Israel and Palestine, was founded by unions in the United States, Britiain and Australia four years ago to push back against growing boycott, divestment and sanctions efforts within the trade union movement, while stoking commitment to a two-state solution.
Its agenda is pro-Israel/two state, but its website’s top item yesterday shows its heart remains ensconced in the union hall.
Its takeaway from the Israeli elections? Net gains, in votes and seats for parties that back labor movement policies.
In an election that has resulted in a virtual tie, and whose outcome will now be determined by negotiations between all the parties, Israeli political parties linked to the labour movement have shown considerable gains in yesterday’s elections.
