Jeremy Piven stopped by at the British talk show “The Jonathan Ross Show” to promote his new ITV series “Mr. Selfridge” on Sunday, and was immediately asked by the host about his religion.
Piven identified himself as “Jew-ish,” not too “hardcore, don’t wear peyos and don’t daven,” in in addition admitted that he was a “terrible bar mitzvah boy.”
However, Piven says that he found a unique way to study, “It was hard for me to learn Hebrew,” Piven said, “I actually had to rap my haftorah portion,” and immediately broke into a live rapping of his portion, much to the enthusiasm of Ross, who suggested that Piven should use his rapping powers to prepare other young Jewish boys for their bar mitzvahs.
Piven’s response? “Yes! We’ll get Justin Bieber, we’ll circumcise him, everybody wins!”
Apparently you can’t take the Ari Gold away from the Piven.
Piven’s “Mr Selfridge” is a 10-episode series on the British ITV network, which tells the story of Harry Selfridge, an “eponymous American entrepreneur (aka “Mile a Minute Harry”) who in 1909 empowered women through retail at his London shopping mecca, Selfridge’s.” The show’s Sunday night debut received strong ratings with an average audience of 7.2 million viewers across the kingdom.
