I’ve been busy live-blogging the response to Hurricane Sandy for JTA. A number of synagogues have sustained damage. If you know of any Jewish historical sites damaged, email sandy@jta.org so we can alert our readers.
If your Jewish library, gallery, etc had collections damaged by flooding or other Sandy-related causes, the Metropolitan New York Library Council has posted resources for recovery:
In the event your institution was in any way effected by the storm, here is a quick list of disaster resources you can consult for guidance on potential disaster recovery funding as well as treatment and preservation of damaged collections.
Full list here.
On a related note, good news from the Museum of Jewish Heritage. The Center For Jewish History, our "This Week in Jewish History" newsletter sponsors, remains closed due to a power outage, though haven’t heard anything definitive about the status of their collections (no news is good new, we hope):
Museum of Jewish Heritage, in flooded, evacuated Lower Manhattan, says "all artifacts and personnel are safe and secure." @mjhnews #sandy
