This is a very exciting year in the life of the 25-year-old Jewish Canadian rapper Drake. Earlier this year he got “re-bar mitzvahd,” and now he earned his high school diploma.

Yes, it took him about seven years more than most of us, but Drake is finally a high school graduate.

The reason Drake (born Aubrey Graham) dropped out was to fulfill his acting career, as he was known back then as James “Jimmy” Brooks, the paralyzed basketball player in the popular Canadian television show “Degrassi” until 2009, when he turned to music.

In an interview to “Complex” last year, Drake admitted that he took the “Degrassi” role to help out his family, “My mother was very sick. We were poor, like broke,” he said. “The only money I had coming in was off of Canadian TV, which isn’t that much money when you break it down … A season of Canadian television is under a teacher’s salary, I’ll tell you that much.” Although after being signed by Lil’ Wayne’s “Young Money” record label, he didn’t have to worry about how much he makes, and this summer he finally turned to fill in the education gap, as he told NOW Magazine, “I’m actually spending my summer graduating high school,” Drake said in the interview. “I only have one credit left, and I’m really excited about that.”

And after a summer working with Kim Janzen, a teacher at Vaughan Road Academy in Ontario, Canada, Drizzy tweeted:

Stay in (or come back to) school, kids!
