For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Jewish director’s career, Turtletaub is behind the “National Treasure” series, “Phenomenon” starring John Travolta, and the ever-favorite movie “Cool Runnings.”
And if you thought the story about the Jamaican bobsled team is the most inspiring Olympic movie, wait until you read about his upcoming movie “beached.” The “Hollywood Reporter” reports that the film, which Turtletaub is in charge of directing, is about “a chubby 4-year-old child who falls overboard during a family outing, is raised by whales and goes on to become an Olympic swimmer.” Yes, the Olympics are still a hot topic and
The film has been in the works since 1997, and it took more than 15 years, a few passed and successful Olympics in London to make itwhat it is today, a film about a chubby kid who is raised by whales (and doesn’t drown? seriously?).
