WASHINGTON (JTA) — Two volunteers for an organization dedicated to providing Jewish service members with kosher care packages are planning to drive the Trans-America Trail.
Husband and wife Shimi and Yudit Fuerst will drive an SUV on the 4,200-mile dirt road trail across America, to raise awareness of Jewish troops serving in the United States Military. The Feursts are volunteers for KosherTroops.
The couple will kick-off their ride July 19 at the Children’s Holocaust Memorial at Whitwell Middle School in Tennessee, just four miles off the trail.
They plan to complete their drive on the trail, which passes through Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Oregon, three weeks later.
The Feursts will blog their experiences at koshertroops.com.
