WASHINGTON (JTA) — Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano met with leaders of the Jewish Federations of North America to discuss partnering with faith-based communities during security threats.
“Homeland security begins with hometown security, and our nation’s faith-based organizations play a critical role in keeping our communities safe,” Napolitano said in a statement after the meeting Monday. “DHS works closely with communities all across the country so they are better prepared to deal with threats that may originate within this country or abroad.”
The Department of Homeland Security and JFNA are partners on a public awareness campaign to improve security awareness within the Jewish community during a crisis situation.
