Life’s good for Josh Gad.

The quirky actor, who plays Elder Cunningham in the Broadway hit “Book of Mormon,” is the writer and co-star of “1600 Penn,” a White House comedy that was picked up by NBC for the 2012-13 season.

The show is about the life of a first family in which the kids are “far from perfect,” in a “Modern Family”-esque way. Gad will write the show in collaboration with “Modern Family” writer Jason Winer (Gad guest starred in a third-season episode of that show) and also former real-life White House speechwriter Jon Lovett.

It will star Bill Pullman as president (Pullman was already a pretty bad-ass president in “Independence Day”), Jenna Elfman (“Dharma and Greg”) and others.

Gad will also be the executive producer of the show.1600 Penn' Cast
