Fresh off the heels of his interview with Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Shimon Peres is gambling on a viral video to recruit friends for his Facebook page.
For musical accompaniment, the Israeli president — or more likely, someone in his social media department — enlisted the help of Noy Alooshe, who first achieved viral fame with his remix of Muamar Gaddafi before the Libyan dictator was exiled and killed. Alooshe has also given Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu the remix treatment.
The Peres video is directed by Noam Vardi.
Slight social media oversight: as of the time this post went up, the YouTube video doesn’t link to Peres’s page given in the video, nor does it include it in the video’s description. The final screen still of the video shows an English language page called "Shimon Peres – Face of Peace," but a query for such a page comes up empty. After some sleuthing on Vardi’s page, here’s Peres’s preferred Facebook page (in Hebrew). Count as of this post: 3,940 Likes.
UPDATE: Here’s the Shimon Peres fan page (English). Count as of 2:16 p.m. EST: 1,018
h/t to my colleague Uri Fintzy for the find.
