(JTA) — The Anti-Defamation League has tripled its reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for throwing firebombs into a New Jersey synagogue and residence.
The reward was raised to $7,500 for information on the firebombing of the rabbi’s residence at Congregation Beth El in Rutherford, which injured the rabbi, as well as attacks on synagogues in Paramus, Maywood and Hackensack. Police are unsure if the attacks in northern New Jersey’s Bergen County are related.
U.S. lawmakers representing New Jersey pledged to support the investigation. The ADL called for increased security and patrols around synagogues, schools and other Jewish institutions in the state.
A dozen local religious institutions held an interfaith service at Beth El on Saturday.
