Kellet is a Jewish-Hungarian gold medal-winning gymnastics legend who escaped the Holocaust with the aid of Raoul Wallenberg and emigrated to Israel following her participation in the 1957 Maccabiah games (as JTA noted before the ’72 Munich Olympics, she emigrated within a year of the 1956 Hungarian revolution). In 1969, Keleti symbolically bore a torch for Hungarian athletes who were unable to participate in the Maccabiah games that year. At the 1984 Olympics, she bore a torch for the Israeli athletes slain in the Munich Olympics.
