When you think of a Jewish woman in the 1930s, who’s the first actress that comes to mind?
Barbara Streisand? Rachel Weisz? Halle Berry?
Well, if you chose the third option, then you are thinking like a Hollywood casting director.
According to Indie Wire, Berry will be playing “a Jewish woman in the 1930s” in the upcoming film, “Cloud Atlas,” which is based on the David Mitchell novel of the same name. In an unusual twist, the film is being shot by three different directors with two separate camera crews to tell the story of a single soul traveling through time in the guise of several characters. Berry will be assuming the Jewish role for director Tom Tykwer’s section of the movie. She will also play a tribal woman for the Wachowskis.
