Though perhaps best known for her role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar (who just returned to TV in Ringer) cut her television teeth on soap operas. Back in the early 90s, she played Kendall Hart, Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) scheming daughter, who was the result of a rape that Erica had repressed. (You gotta love soaps for plotlines like that.) Gellar won a daytime Emmy for the role before moving to Los Angeles to play the now iconic vampire slayer.
But now that the legendary soap opera is ending its decades-long run, Gellar (and many other former stars) returned for a brief cameo, which just aired.
In the scene, Gellar plays a woman who has amnesia. With a wink at her star making role, she has the following conversation with a nurse:
Gellar: “So I see vampires, that doesn’t make me crazy!”
Nurse: “No, vampires are very popular…”
Gellar: “I saw them before they were trendy!”
And that, my friends, is better writing than you’ll ever encounter in Twilight.
All My Children, you’ll be sorely missed.
