A few days ago the 1990s band that dog. reunited at the Troudabour music hall in LA.
It’s not the most exciting news in the world, we know. However, their artist choice for the opening of their show was very special, and turned out to be pretty dank – it was Bridesmades’ Maya Rudolph and her brand new Prince cover band – Princess!
That’s right!
For those of you who wonder what is the connection between the former SNL cast member (who recently became a mom) and music, the connection is tighter than you think. Rudolph’s mom is the late Minnie Riperton, the same Minnie Riperton who hit that super high note in Lovin’ You. Her dad is songwriter Richard Rudolph, who happens to be an Ashkenazi Jew. Rudolph was a keyboardist and backing singer in the band The Rentals, where she met the members of that dog.
So no wonder Rudolph who happens to be awesome and hilarious as it is, is also an extremely talented singer and performer. Princess, who Rudolph started with her friend Gretchen Lieberum is buzzing like crazy!
