The kooky Jewish answer to Tori Amos is at it again. Regina Spektor just recorded a cover version of “My Man,” originally sung by none other than Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl.
Spector’s version will appear on the Boardwalk Empire soundtrack, which includes a long list of talented artists including the Wainwrights (Loudon and Martha), Nelly McKay and others. The soundtrack will be released on September 13th.
Entertainment Weekly‘s got the exclusive premiere of the song, which you can listen to over at their site. This should definitely perk up your morning.
And then you should listen to the original Ms. Brice sing the classic tune so you can decide who does it best.
As much as I love Regina Spektor and her oddball sensibility, I’ve got give this to the one and only Barbra Streisand.
